Privacy Policy

1. About this policy
FELTIE LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company ("Feltie," "we," "us," or "our"), provides the Feltie iOS application (the "App"). This policy describes information handled by the App, information you choose to send to us for support or privacy requests, and limited diagnostic information Apple may provide to us. The App is offered in the United States and is intended for people age 16 and older.
Your saved tracking records are stored on your device. The App has no user account or login, and Feltie does not operate any server, database, or cloud service that receives or stores those records. We cannot remotely view or retrieve them. That does not mean information can never leave your device: you may export files or send us email, and Apple services have their own information-handling practices. Those situations are explained below.
Washington consumers should also read the separate Washington Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy, available on our website and in the App at Settings > Privacy. It explains the disclosures and rights applicable to consumer health data under Washington law.
2. Information the App processes
The App processes information you enter, documents or photos you choose to import, the Apple Health information you authorize it to read, and information it generates locally from those inputs. In this policy, that information is called "App Data." Processing inside the App does not mean that Feltie LLC receives a copy.
Profile and age information. The App processes the name you provide. During setup, it also checks the date of birth you enter to determine whether you meet the age requirement. This check takes place on your device and relies on your statement, not independent identity verification.
Health information. Depending on the features you use, App Data includes symptoms and conditions; cycle and reproductive-health information; sleep; heart rate and heart rate variability; step counts; stress; medication history; lab values you type in; and appointment notes. The exact Apple Health categories requested by the App are listed in Section 4.
Your content and local results. App Data includes documents and photos you save in the Document Vault, notes and dictated text, messages you enter in Feltie Library, and locally generated daily views, trends, suggestions, and reports. It also includes voice audio processed when you use Feltie's own voice-input button, as described in Section 4. Your chosen documents, notes, or messages may contain additional information you decide to include.
The App does not access your device location, address book, or browsing history. It does not purchase information about you from data brokers. Information you voluntarily include in a document or message is different from the App accessing those device resources.
3. Purposes and on-device protection
The App uses App Data to provide the features you request: personal tracking, daily and trend views, pattern awareness, appointment preparation, local suggestions, reminders, the Document Vault, and reports or backups you choose to create. Feltie Library uses a bundled reference library and your on-device entries; it does not send your questions or records to an external artificial-intelligence service. The App is designed for descriptive personal tracking, not diagnosis, treatment, or emergency care.
Encryption at rest. The App stores your saved entries, including authorized Apple Health imports, profile, Document Vault files, Feltie Library messages, and locally saved views and reports (together, the "Encrypted Store") on your device in encrypted form using AES-256-GCM. The encryption key is generated on your device and kept in the iOS Keychain as a device-only key. Feltie LLC never receives a copy of that key.
The App marks the Encrypted Store to be excluded from iCloud and computer device backups. Apple's backup-exclusion setting is not a guarantee that data can never appear in a backup or on a restored device. Feltie does not provide cloud synchronization or a server-side recovery copy of your App Data. Losing the device or access to its encryption key can therefore result in loss of your records unless you have separately made a usable export.
These encryption and backup statements apply only to the Encrypted Store. They do not apply to voice audio processed for dictation, pending Siri Shortcut text (Section 4), reminder text you schedule with iOS, exported files, email, or information handled by Apple or another service you choose. No security measure eliminates every risk. Protect access to your device and keep its software current. If an incident triggers legally required notifications, we will provide them in the form and within the time required by applicable law.
4. Optional Apple features, permissions, and billing
Apple Health
Apple Health access is optional and requires your authorization through iOS. Feltie requests read access to exactly five categories: heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability (SDNN), step count, and sleep analysis. It does not request permission to write information to Apple Health and does not send your Feltie entries back to Apple Health.
You may decline access or change Feltie's permissions through Apple Health or iOS Settings. Revoking permission stops future access to the affected categories; it does not, by itself, delete information already imported into Feltie. Use the deletion controls described in Section 8 to remove App Data. Deleting App Data does not delete the source information in Apple Health.
Apple separately controls the Health app and its services. Apple Health information may be backed up or synchronized through Apple according to your Apple settings. Marking Feltie's Encrypted Store for exclusion from device backups does not turn off Apple Health's own backup or synchronization. See Apple's Health App & Privacy notice.
Voice input and Siri Shortcuts
Feltie's own voice-input button uses microphone access and Apple's on-device speech recognition to turn your speech into note text. The App processes the audio only to create that text and does not save the recording or use it to identify you. If on-device recognition is unavailable, Feltie turns off its voice-input button rather than sending audio to a remote service. You review and confirm the text before it is saved. The dictation key on the iOS keyboard and Siri are Apple features, not Feltie's; Apple handles that audio under its own practices and your settings.
Siri Shortcuts work differently. Apple's Siri system handles your voice request under Apple's own practices and settings. Feltie receives the resulting text, not the Siri audio. Until you confirm or discard it, Feltie keeps that text in the App's ordinary local settings on your device. That temporary text is not in the Encrypted Store, is not encrypted by Feltie, and may be included in your iCloud or computer device backups, depending on your settings. Depending on your device and settings, Apple may process Siri requests on its servers. See Apple's Siri, Dictation & Privacy notice.
Reminders and selected files
Reminders use local notifications scheduled on your device, not remote push notifications from Feltie. You control notification permission through iOS Settings. Notification text may appear on your lock screen depending on your settings, so review those settings before using reminders for sensitive information.
You choose which documents or photos to import into the Document Vault. The original file and any copy in a photo library, file provider, or storage service remain separate from the copy stored in Feltie. Those services control their own storage and synchronization.
App Store subscriptions
Apple processes subscription payments through the App Store and StoreKit. Feltie does not receive or store your payment-card details. Apple's purchase and payment records are governed by Apple's practices. Subscription administration is separate from your local health records.
5. Exports and information you choose to share
Exported backup files and PDF reports are not encrypted by Feltie. A full-backup JSON file is readable text. Its SHA-256 checksum only helps detect accidental corruption. It is not encryption or a password, and it does not stop anyone from reading or changing the file.
An export occurs only when you choose to create it. You control where you save the file and any recipient or service with which you share it, such as a health care professional, an email service, or a file-storage service. An export can contain sensitive health information and identifying information. Feltie does not receive a copy merely because you export it.
Once exported, the file is outside the Encrypted Store. Its protection, retention, and any further sharing depend on the destination and recipient. A destination you select may synchronize the file to the cloud. Review the contents and destination before sharing. Creating an export does not erase the original App Data, and erasing App Data does not erase an exported copy.
6. Contacting Feltie and information we receive
The in-app "Contact us" form asks for your name, email address, reason for contacting us, and message. It opens your email application with that information filled in. You review and decide whether to send the email. Your email provider sends the message, and we receive it at support@feltieapp.com. Our business inbox is hosted by Google Workspace.
We receive the content you send, your sender information, ordinary email routing information, and any attachments you independently add. If you put health information in the message or attach a report or backup, we and the email providers will receive that information. Email is not protected by the App's device-only encryption. Do not send a health-data backup, medical document, password, or other sensitive information that is unnecessary for your request.
We use correspondence to respond to and resolve your inquiry, provide the support you request, administer privacy requests, protect against security incidents, fraud, and abuse, comply with legal obligations, and, where applicable law permits, establish or defend legal claims. Access is limited to Feltie personnel and professional advisers, such as legal counsel, who need the information for those purposes and are bound by confidentiality obligations. Email providers process messages to provide their services; they do not receive access to your remaining App Data through this contact feature.
We keep correspondence only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes and then delete it, unless applicable law requires us to keep it longer. You may request review, correction, or deletion of information in our correspondence using the contact details in Section 12.
We may disclose information actually in our possession to a court, regulator, or other recipient when disclosure is required by, and permitted under, applicable law. We will limit such a disclosure to the information legally required. This provision does not authorize a disclosure prohibited by health-privacy or other applicable law and does not give us access to records stored only on your device.
7. Recipients, no sale, and no tracking
Who receives information. Feltie does not provide the App Data stored on your device to anyone. Information connected with the App reaches others through recipients you choose when you export or share a file (Section 5); for support correspondence, Google Workspace (which hosts our inbox), your own email provider, and our professional advisers (Section 6); and courts or authorities when disclosure is legally required and permitted (Section 6). Copies of App Data you choose to include in support correspondence are handled as correspondence under Section 6.
Business transfers. If Feltie is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of its business, correspondence and Apple diagnostic reports we hold may be transferred to a successor only as applicable law permits. The successor must continue to protect them consistent with this policy and applicable law. App Data remaining on your device is not part of any such transfer. A transaction does not override any disclosure, consent, or authorization requirement.
Apple services. Apple operates Apple Health, Siri, and App Store purchases under its own policies (Section 4). Feltie does not upload your saved records to Apple as part of those integrations. Apple's separate handling of voice requests, device backups, and diagnostic reports is described in Sections 3 and 4 and below.
We do not sell App Data or support correspondence. We do not use that information for targeted advertising, disclose it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or provide it to advertising networks or data brokers. We do not share App Data or support correspondence with affiliates. The App does not combine different users' health records for aggregate analysis. We do not collect, use, or sell personal data, including App Data and support correspondence, to train large language models or other artificial-intelligence models.
The App does not include third-party analytics or crash-reporting software, advertising software, or an external AI service. It uses local web technology within its iOS interface but does not use advertising or cross-service tracking cookies. Feltie does not permit third-party tracking of your activities over time and across other websites or online services through the App.
Apple diagnostics. If you choose in iOS settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with crash reports and aggregated usage statistics about the App. Apple prepares these reports under its own practices; they are not designed to include your App Data. We use these reports to identify and fix faults and improve the App's reliability, not for advertising or to identify your health conditions. We limit access to personnel and professional advisers who need it for those purposes and are bound by confidentiality obligations and retain the reports only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes, or longer if applicable law requires.
Because Feltie does not engage in those tracking, sale, or targeted-advertising activities, a browser "Do Not Track" setting or an opt-out preference signal does not change that handling. This does not describe Apple's independent services, your email provider, or a destination you choose for an exported file.
8. Retention, deletion, and your device controls
Saved App Data. Saved App Data does not expire automatically. It remains on your device until you remove it using the App's controls or delete the App. In Settings, you can export a full backup or use the control to erase all local data. Use any available entry-editing controls to correct individual entries. We cannot perform those device actions remotely or recover a server copy for you.
Before erasing records that include Apple Health imports, revoke Feltie's Health permissions if you do not want those records imported again. Stopping new entries or withdrawing a permission is not the same as deleting saved information. If you intend to stop all local processing, revoke optional permissions, erase the App's data, and stop using the App.
Deleting the App is different from using iOS "Offload App," which retains app documents and data. Neither deleting the App nor using its local erase control deletes your Apple Health source records, original photos or documents, exported files, recipients' copies, or email already sent. Use the relevant Apple, storage, or email controls for those copies. Ask us separately to delete correspondence held by Feltie.
Where applicable law requires us to notify a recipient or processor of your deletion request, we will do so. Our inability to erase an independently held copy directly does not limit any notification, assistance, or deletion obligation we have under applicable law.
9. Privacy requests and state rights
You may contact support@feltieapp.com with questions or requests about your information. State law may provide rights to confirm processing; access your information and local inferences; correct inaccuracies; obtain a portable copy; delete information; obtain information about recipients; withdraw consent; and appeal a refusal to act. You may also exercise any applicable right to opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or profiling used for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Feltie does not use your information for those activities.
You do not need to create an account or send us your health records to submit a request. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to authenticate the request or confirm an authorized agent's authority, but not information unrelated to that purpose. Requests about information stored only in the App generally require action on your device; we will explain the available controls. Requests about information we hold in correspondence or Apple diagnostic reports are handled separately.
We will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any permitted extension or refusal. We will not charge for a request except where applicable law permits a reasonable fee, and we will explain any proposed fee before proceeding. You will not be penalized or unlawfully discriminated against for exercising a privacy right. A feature that needs particular information cannot function without that information.
To appeal a refusal, reply to our response or email the same address and explain what you would like reconsidered. You may use "Privacy appeal" as the subject, but no special wording is required. We will provide a written decision and reasons within 45 days after receiving your appeal, or sooner if applicable law requires. If we deny the appeal, we will provide the applicable Attorney General's complaint mechanism or contact information.
Washington
The separate Washington Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy, available on our website and in the App at Settings > Privacy, describes Washington consumers' rights, including confirmation and access, recipient information, withdrawal of consent, deletion, and appeal procedures. It also identifies the categories, sources, purposes, and recipients of consumer health data. Its Washington-specific provisions apply to information governed by that law.
Nevada
For consumers protected by Nevada's consumer-health privacy law, Section 2 identifies health-data categories and sources, Sections 3 through 6 explain purposes and processing methods, and Section 7 consolidates recipient categories. You may request confirmation of whether we collect, share, or sell your consumer health data; a list of third parties to which we have shared or sold it; cessation of collection, sharing, or sale; and deletion. Submit requests and appeals to the email address above.
We will respond without undue delay and no later than 45 days after authenticating a Nevada request. A reasonably necessary extension may be taken for up to 45 additional days, with notice and reasons within the initial period. For an authenticated deletion request, we will delete covered data and notify recipients as required within 30 days, subject only to exceptions allowed by Nevada law. We will decide an appeal within 45 days after receipt and provide the Nevada Attorney General's contact information if we decline the requested action.
California, Connecticut, and other states
Use the same request and appeal methods for rights available under your state's law. California residents may also request review and correction of information they have sent to us, as described in Section 6. Nothing in this policy reduces any protection or remedy provided by California medical-information law or another applicable privacy law. Posting this policy is not a substitute for any consent or authorization the law requires.
10. Age requirement
Feltie is not intended for anyone under 16. The setup age check is self-attested and does not verify identity. If you believe a person under 16 has sent personal information to us, contact us so that we can address the information in our possession as applicable law requires. We cannot remotely inspect or erase the records on another person's device. A person requesting access on behalf of a minor must have authority under applicable law.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update the "Effective and last updated" date at the top of this policy whenever it changes. We will provide a conspicuous in-app notice of a material change before implementing the changed information handling. Where applicable law requires additional disclosure, consent, or authorization for new health-data categories, purposes, or recipients, we will satisfy those requirements before making the change. Continued use of the App or publication of a revised policy is not, by itself, consent to a new use or disclosure that requires your affirmative permission.
